Growing Pains: A 'behind-the-scenes' high school story.

Growing Pains isn’t your typical high school story precisely because it’s a typical high school story.

Mind-numbing assignments, unappetising lunches, strict teachers; high school can be quite a tough ride. Follow Walter Gitau, Darius Rozen and Miranda Navarro as their stories unfold and intertwine throughout their final year at Mercroft High School.

Walter Gitau is a textbook example of joker (not that he spends much time reading textbooks). However, with final exams approaching and university application deadlines looming, he’ll eventually need to get serious about something.

Darius Rozen has got it made. He has good grades, he’s the goalkeeper of his school’s football team and he’s a newly appointed prefect. But there’s something, no, someone who’d make his life complete.

Miranda Navarro isn’t great at the whole ‘social-interaction’ thing. She prefers living in her own head. But life has other plans for her and Miranda finds herself assisting backstage for the school play, along with Darius, Walter, and even more of her fellow students.

About the author

Roberto Oduor is a Kenyan author whose experiences living and studying in Nepal, Zimbabwe, Thailand and the UK makes him a third-culture individual and a global citizen. While studying for a Business Economics degree at the University of Exeter, he worked on writing Growing Pains. He hopes that his novel is able to entertain and inspire teenagers around the world.
